I worry about putting 100s of hours into designs that may one day “go obsolete” by no choice of my own. With SketchUp, even if the company were to go under and stop developing/supporting SketchUp, I still have the tool installed on my computer, and I can always open the files I currently have. For the original OP, that was comfortable in the old SketchUp, and is doing 'DIY construction,' the old SketchUp might be the way to go. ![]() Fusion might not be the best choice, but it is free (ish). I love how fast it is to design something in it. way faster to use something that can do proper drawings. I’ve done a LOT with it, and it’s still my “go-to” tool for many design projects. Fusion 360 includes all design and 3D modeling tools, plus a fully featured CAM, CAE, and PCB development platform. ![]()
